Twenty players are nominated for the FIFA 15 Ultimate Team TOTY Defenders
Dani Alves, Philipp Lahm, Sergio Ramos and Thiago Silva were last year’s World XI defenders. At least two of them have really good chances to be again in the TOTY. Alves and Ramos both have 4 World XI awards, Lahm and Silva both have only one. Besides them, Marcelo (2012) and Gerard Piqué (2010, 2011, 2012) are the only other nominees that already were World XI winners.
Daniel Carvajal, Filipe Luis and Diego Godin make their debut on the 55-men shortlist.
Javier Mascherano returns to the shortlist after having been omitted from last year’s.
Leighton Baines, Ashley Cole, Dante and Nemanja Vidic have disappeared from the shortlist.

The FIFA FIFPro World XI will be unveiled on January 12 2015 at FIFA’s Ballon D’Or in Zurich, Switzerland. It will include four defenders from the twenty listed above.
