Is FIFA 2021 Able to Live Up to the Hype?

FIFA 21

FIFA 21 represents one of the most highly anticipated sports games of the year and due to the simple fact that this franchise has enjoyed so much popularity in the past, it stands to reason that the developers at EA Sports put a significant amount of time and effort in order to ensure an amazing end-user experience. However, have they lived up to the hype that has been promised for the past six months? What are some of the most impressive features of FIFA 21 and might there be any drawbacks worth noting? Let’s take a look at both sides of the proverbial coin.

FIFA 21: All About On-Field Action

Perhaps one of the most impressive qualities associated with this iteration involves the cutting-edge action that players can now enjoy while on the pitch. We are not only referring to digital dynamics in this sense, but rather the ability to better fine tune the talents and actions of individual personalities.

It should also be pointed out that many users will choose to play FIFA 21 in SIM mode. In this latest version, they have the ability to immediately jump in on the action if required (such as during a pivotal penalty kick). Although this might somewhat detract from the traditional notion of SIM playing, hands-on managers are likely to find this addition useful.

What About the Drawbacks?

To be fair, some experts have been rather critical of FIFA 21. Many claim that this version provided little more than a facelift when compared to previous iterations. This is not entirely unjustified, as the majority of core gameplay options remains largely the same as FIFA 20. Although new players are not likely to find this an issue, anyone who was expecting the developers to reinvent the proverbial wheel could be slightly disappointed.

Another gripe which has been expressed by more than a handful of fans is the incessant reliance upon loot boxes. One pervasive issue involving loot boxes in general is the fact that some consider them a form of gambling. In other words, luck of the draw comes into play; somewhat removing strategy from the game. We still need to remember that these boxes can add a bit of excitement to the platform, so they should be taken with a grain of salt.

FIFA 21 has certainly turned heads and while some problems exist, the vast majority of players have welcomed the updates. Considering how far the franchise has come in the past few years, we are already beginning to wonder what the upcoming 2022 version may have in store.
